Visual clutter is proven to short circuit our brains and keep us from being productive and thinking clearly.

ā¢ Sort, edit, trash, donate, contain, label
ā¢ Choose containment that eliminates or minimizes the visual clutter- we chose opaque and lidded bins to live behind closed doors of a cabinet system

Weāre breaking out the sweaters because fall sports, tailgates, and apple picking are on the to-do list.
Whether you store your seasonal clothes and are ready for the seasonal swap, or your closet holds all seasons for you, itās time to put the warmer clothes front and center.
ā¢ fold sweaters on shelves - hanger by them stretches them out
ā¢ shelf dividers keep stacks from toppling over
ā¢ use baskets for out of season things like bathing suits and store them up high
ā¢ drop front boxes keep things tidy, protected from dust, and easily accessible
ā¢ store flip flops and sandals away and bring out boots and cold weather footwear
ā¢ rotate out lighter clothing and bring warmer pieces to the front
ā¢ make sure to do a thorough edit of your spring and summer clothes now- anything you donāt love, didnāt wear, or doesnāt fit should go!

+ Canisters can stack, making use of vertical space
+ Long containers make use of deep cabinets so things donāt get lost in the back
+ Taking things out of the boxes they came in and putting them in uniform containers makes things easier to see
+ It looks really, really pretty, too š

We installed this catch-all basket in a central location in our clientās hallway. Theyāre going to use it for things they donāt have time to put away right this second, and when the basket fills up it all gets put away properly.

To avoid the most common closet organizing mistakes, hereās how we used an Elfa system to maximize her small closet:
ā¢ used every inch of vertical space by installing an organizer on the door
ā¢ added as much shelving as we possibly could!
ā¢ adjusted the heights of the shelves and hanging bars to accommodate tops, dresses, and baskets
ā¢ used our favorite montauk baskets from The Container Store to contain her dance stuff, bathing suits, and keep things organized up on the high shelves
ā¢ baskets are great for containing clothes that teens might not otherwise fold, so the closet still looks tidy and organized
ā¢ got creative with shoe storage by using the baskets on the door- those high tops need to be easy to find!
ā¢ used slim, nonslip hangers
